I run LPG ... I hardly use any ... and I am sub contractor ... I just pay GST (11% it works out to)
It's not like PAYE where you get taxed 33% or what ever it is. I had a decent day last week ... I earnt $450 in the day ... and if i get an afterhours job ... I can get around $1000 for the night (but that's rare intra-state emergency deliveries) This is my 2nd job anyway ... it pays for my mortgage ... I still have my other full-time job as well (shiftwork) ... that pays other bills and mods for the car (which i claim back every 1/4)
