Im staying hopeful!!
Did you come up with a solution? Pics wont be a problem, mainly finding the time to do the job I was toying with the idea of fitting a LED light into the needle, but then you have the weight problem, as well as somewhere to run the wires. Hopefully, these will do the job.

I think, and I stress the word think, because I'm still trying things..... is to get some transparent blue hobby paint, and paint the area that is exposed after the dials are fitted to the clear support. It's the area under the needles that allows the light through. If you paint this it make the white needles light blue at night.
I think the go will be to paint the needles blue, do a blue LED conversion (which I'm on the process of doing now). During the day they will look blue, and during the night they SHOULD light up blue? Fingers crossed. Have a look at the pics. White on white just doesn't work, although I have to say the photo is very much over exposed which makes the white needles even harder to see than what they really are.

Just though of something...
From what you said, the needles are 2 piece right? Remember the tail light tint you used to buy to re tint the lenses in your Datto 200B each year for rego?? What if you coated the second part of the needle in that stuff? That would allow the light to shine through, giving it a Red or Orange colour, wouldnt it? Me thinks me will get some old needles next time in in the wreckers and check it out. If it works, they're for sale, $45 a set, lol

can't u just change the light bulb that makes the needle glow in the first place? give it a coat of red or something? sorry i dunno anything about the cluster just yet, just assuming the the bulb is coming from the point of rotation here.

EA to ED had orange needles. I reckon you go to wrecker and pull them off an EA or something and whack them on an EF at the wrecker and check it if it fits.

If it works, they're for sale, $45 a set, lol The needles are in fact three piece, but that's not what I'm saying. There is a clear plastic support that the dials sit on. This is used to defuse the light, with a portion left exposed, which is directly below the needle. This allows the light to pass through the clear plastic support, into the needles, which are also clear plastic, thus your needles light up. If you paint the small section of the clear supports that are exposed, this will change the colour of the light that is allowed through, and change the colour of your needles when illuminated. Unfortunately Fuzion it is not that simply, to get a good result. If you want a second rate job, then paint them as Fuzion has described. Hobby paint obsorbs too much of the light, and they don't illuminate very bright. Don't let this post become too much for you Fuzion. There is a member how is discussing some issues he has, and he is being provided with options. Isn't that the whole idea of the site????????

Ok, Fitted the white dials, the red needles, and also covered the fascia in carbon fibre.
Looks AWESOME!!! Only prob (which I was alerted to b4) is that the needles wont glow all the way along due to the paint used. Im thinking changing the globes which light the needles to a LED will rectify this problem. I have pics, so as soon as I get my digi cam cable back Ill post them. BTW, I wasnt happy with the result b4 the carbon fibre, seemed too plain. CF seems to set it right off. My only problem encountered was that I pushed the Tacho needle on a lil crooked, which caused it to foul on the dial. Simple fix of removing it and try it again Sam. Fixed.

That's come up pretty good. How did you do the CF covering?
I received an email from the mob you purchased the needles from and they told me that they use tamiya hobby paint and airbrush in onto the needles. Am I right in sayng that they needles are completely red, or do they have a white bottom on them. Nice work with your cluster. |

Just got a roll of CF from a spare parts shop, cut a piece big enough to cover, removed backing then trimmed with a sharp kinfe. Prolly should have used a hair dryer and wrapped the edges a bit though.
The needles look like they have been pulled apart to be painted, but from what I can see, all parts have been painted red. Anyone got a set of needles that glow bright red they want to sell??

Yeah, I wasnt quite happy without it, just looked too plain. CF dresses it right up I think, The best thing your not limited to CF, any adhesive backed material would work.
It wasnt real dear either, cost me about $50 for the roll, plus about 10 mins to do it. As I said though, I really should have cut a bit more and wrapped it round the gauge holes then hit it with a hairdryer, however, as its not being handled, it should be ok. Personally, I think for the effect it gives, Its really worth doing. Contact me if you want some CF, I dont need anymore, so for $5, Ill send you enough to do your cluser, Or I'd swap some of the LED globes and holders for it. Drop us a line if your interested.

Just found a small glitch.
My fuel light is now coming on with over well over a 1/4 tank left. The needle seems to be working fine, it moves up and down freely, and by my fuel economy reckonings it seems to be in the correct position, however, as soon as the needle hits the stroke before the orange section, my warning lamp comes on. What can I do besides pull the globe out!
