I'm looking to buy a used car in brissie while im down their in a few weeks.
I've got up to 25k to spend and I would like either a BA Fairmont (Ghia) or an Escape (i know its not a falcon, but I'll prolly hold onto the EB + do it up).
Anyone give me any pointers or things to look out for?
I have heard about a place called Qld car mart at nerang (gold coast) They seem to have a few bargains, for instance a recovered XR6 BA I was talking to him about that had the leather seats nicked out of it, and replaced with standard ba ones for $23000. Has anyone heard much about them / heard of anyone being bitten by going through similar yards?

Try Moorooka Mile in Brisbane, many car yards along there. Or try Ipswich they have a few.

That nernag guy is ok heard mixed stories about him though.

was thinking about using one of those car find services advertised on autotrader and carsales cause i could drive all over brissie for days and days and not find what i'm looking for. trouble is, i need to decide wether i want a 4wd (read high clearance vehicle) or a flash town car.

also, is their a particular road in moorooka that all the yards are on, or is it just the general area? I have heard about the magic mile, but never been there (i generally steer clear of the "big smoke")

Auctions scare me a bit as i've never done it before, and it's a lot of money to be throwing around.

they also have "fixed price cars" worth a look...to get to magic mile at moorooka just keep going on the ispwich motorway i suspect you'll be coming from Toowoomba way? if so you'll come out near Redbank..just keep going straight, past Goodna, Wacol, Rocklea then you hit Moorooka..
