ahmen beat them out with the handle of a hammer... we took them off dads au, actually braked better after, that car does a bit of heavy towing and we all know how fantastic au series 1 brakes were.. keeping the heat and dust in couldnt have been helping

like mitch said they restrict airflow and will allow better braking!

When I removed mine, I got all 4 off without a single crack. When I said (wrote) that I used a socket extension I meant the big bastard you use for extra leverage (some call it a strong-arm). I used the padded (handle) end to push from the outside and then jammed a screw-driver in the gap this created. Then move to the next gap between spokes and repeat until it just pops off. It does take some force as they are really tight.
