I was wondering if anyone out there has got a bbm to work correctly without the ecu?.

The reason i ask is because i have put an ef motor into my xf and i am running it on strait gas. Does anyone know what is needed to make it swith over at the correct rpm?.

Also when the motor hits the correct rpm does it swith on or off?.

The car goes quite well without it but i was thinking that with the manifold working it would run smoother.

Any info i can get on the subject would be great as im a bit unsure of how to go about it.

They open at around 3000rpm to my understanding, which means it comes back to its spring seated position as the EF's use a vacuum solenoid to control and hold them closed at low RPM. A simple RPM switch should be able to handle this application, however I think that the ECU advances the timing a couple a degrees too when it opens, maybe a little more research is required

The switch over is at 3800rpm, i read it in an article on autospeed where they interviewed jim mock about the falcon 6.

yes 3800 is the rpm but also dependent on load and throttle position
but like others have said a simple rpm switch should do the job nicly
got any pics of the manifold on the xf? and i pressume it efi exf not carbed

Is it worth putting an e series 6 into an xf?

Yeah sure is goes very well, it was a 3.3 so it has to be an improvement. It cost a bit but at the end of the day its something different and the exhaust note gets people thinking whats under the bonnet. You would not bother doing it if you were not going to keep the car for awhile cause you would lose money on it for sure.

Dont have any pics as yet and have no idea how to put them up sorry about that. The motor is out of a 95 ef it was efi but not now.

Does anyone know where i can get an rpm swith from?. I went to jaycar and they had no idea what i was talking about. Is there a part number or something that would make finding this part a little easyier?.
