Hi,

when i bought my car, the left side demister connector was broke, and there was no possible way to resolder it back cause the person who i bought it off, scratched all the copper off.

So i bought some of that Silver Hardner demister repair that connects the demister back to the window.

it connected fine and i tested the circuit and it was conducting.

1 week later, when i turned it on the rear windscreen blew up, and the glass all shattered.

Now i need a new window.

The wreckers has one for 50 buks. he said all i gotta do it take out my old window, remove the existing mould, clean the surface, then i can just place the 2nd hand windscreen on and use that special Black silicon glue to stick the window back down.

Is this correct what he has said? also will a EA-EB windscreen fit for a ED?

Thanks fellas!

Interceptor,

ive already removed the old windscreen, removed the moulds, just gotta clean the edges to ensure the glue will stick.

i just found out what glue to use. Sikaflex-255 Extra, australian product for glazing windows.

Would anyone know roughly how much this product is and where?

Thanks !!!

It's not Silicon, it's Polyurethane and you need to get the right one
Sikaflex® -255 is for bonding of windscreens

Go to

{DESCRIPTION}

This site also has instructions on changing a windscreen

We buy the sikaflex at about $13 a tube, you should get a special nozzile with it that has a v taken out of the end, when applying the urethane have the v facing away from the direction that you are going and the gun nearly upright, you will want the urethane to be about 15mm high and come to a point all the way around, sit the screen in line it up and then push it down around the edges.

It is very hard to fix a leaking windscreen when it hasnt been installed properly thats why your better off letting a pro do it, they would probably only charge $40 to do it.

The only advice that I can offer you is to take the top mould out and fill the gap up along the entire top edge with urethane and then chuck the mould back in.

EDMONTY

i bought it from supercheap auto for around 20 buks.

thats what caused my windscreen to explode i think.

I called around, and got some window repair guy to come and install my windscreen.

he charged 77 buks...he came to me, cleaned the window from the old mould, used a primer, stuck the windscreen on, and replaced the top rubber seal.

best to pay the small fee and get someone to do it properly, if you are not sure of what to do.
