Hey all.
Long time reader, first time poster.

Ive got a problem with my dads EL Futura. Basically, when the ignition is turned on everything lights up as per normal on the dash except the little lcd panel where the odometer, trip meter and service spanner thing are.

I only noticed this when driving at night as during the day there is a faint-ish glow that can just be read.

The car recently had a new HU installed and Im starting to think that the clever installer at the large Hi Fi company may have stuffed something up!?

Any help would be most appreciated.
Cheers

theres a bulb behind the LCD panel which blows out - its a s**t little thing that costs sweet fa, but takes a wee bit of time to replace  you need to take the dash surround out to take the cluster out to get to the bulb! :P

Cheers.

not necessarily - they go on a regular basis, so it could have been a coincidence - i know of many a falcon that has had it go! my mates parents were quoted $90+ from ford to replace the bulb :?

$90??

I guess they'd probably do it a lot faster than me.

How long do you reckon it would take me to do? Id rate my ability to take stuff apart and put it back together again fairly highly!!

Anything to save me giving my money to someone else for something I can do myself and maybe learn something at the same time!!! :)

Anything that goes wrong with my car (EF) usually takes me a few hours trying to figure it out first before the gregories manual comes out...... but it I ever need to fix the same thing again!!!!

easy job to do.

Back of the cluster for reference, you'll be replacing the white one in the bottom/middle.
