long vs short is, determines how much you get,

A short motor, is just that, a very minimal, could be a little as teh block+head.

long motor, will add headers, intake, looms, fuel rail/injectors etc.

a short motor is every thing from the headgasket down.

a long motor includes the head

tickford_6 is right, a short motor will not have a head on it, long motor will.

short = block, crank, pistons, bearings etc.

long = short motor + head, cam, valves, etc (whole engine)
