I'm just wondering what the little stepper motr actually does. You know the VDO item hokked up between the LPG converter and the throttle body.
Does it just control the LPG mixer or is it also used to adjust the timing by telling the computer how much gas is going into the engine. I ask this because when the converter it the cab s**t itself the stepper motor also did and as a quick fix I had the stepper motor removed and a manual adjustment valve put in there. There are two problems with this. 1. My AU is now emissions illegal (no closed loop control on LPG) 2 it pings at anything over 1/2 throttle. |

THe stepper adjusts the mixures using the LPG computer and the O2 sensor. (ok, some also use the TPS). Removing it does make your car non compliant as all cars after (I think 92) required ECU Control over the mixtures. Also means your not quite legal.
The problem at load Will be a tuning thing : You should be able to make a non-closed loop system work just fine however sounds like your leaning out at load. Im not technical with this side, but im thinking power valve adjustment. Nigel |

Yup - Lean. Might also be rich at low revs.
LPG running lean doesnt work like petrol. You dont get more miles. You also have a problem where I suspect your fuel is rich at idle -> Lean at load. Might be bigger problems with your LPG than you think. |

I was thinking about that today and it sounds logical.
Problem is the gas man that performed this mod is on holidays and has closed his shop for 3 months. No other LPG workshop wants to touch the car. |

Ring the gas man at home or on his mobile if you have find his number. He should be doing his job correctly and not placing you in a situation where your car runs badly (and the engine can be damaged as a result) and if you had an accident your insurance would be in its right to reject your claim (big problem if you slammed into a ferrari). Don't know why other gas installers hate picking up someone elses problem and being paid to fix it correctly but there seems to be some strange behaviour in the industry which is encouraged by the AAFRB. If your gas man refuses to fix his poor workmanship, threaten him with calling the AAFRB. Cheers, ItchiOne |
