Ok all you mechanical boffins out there, When I start my I6 EF after its been sitting for a day or so what I believe to be the lash adjusters are very noisy for about 5 seconds, then the quiet down heaps. No real problem there. What I’m a little more concerned about is after I’ve been driving for a while and the car has heated up, something starts to make noisy ticking noises, very much like the lash adjusters, or very very noisy injectors, its not as loud as when I start up the car to begin with, but is quite loud all the same.
Now for the history, I put a re grind cam in the car, and new lash adjustors a while ago. Problem was I needed 1.1m shims, and these took about 3 week to get, during those three weeks I drove the car every day, and the lash adjustors made one hell of a noise.

Is it possible I’ve stuffed my new lash adjustors???
Also I heard of some sore of fluid that can shut them up a bit…

it's very possible you've buggered them by allowing to much of a gap,,i'm surprised it ran ok..have a look at em and see if there damaged

They don’t look "damaged" but I did notice that if I take them out they have no movement in and out.. I pulled my old ones apart and couldn’t get them back together, so I’m a little hesitant in trying to free these one up.. Any ideas??

Someone correct me if im wrong, but to get them back together you need to get the oil out of them, then when you put them back in the oil is forced back in through the galleries in the rocker arm.
I pulled a couple of mine apart but didnt put them back together as I had spares. some of them were seized up like you mentioned.

I hear one of the best ways to fix noisy lash adjusters is to give the engine a de carboning with a carby cleaner. But if theyre out then I guess you can just spray it directly.

Its just a solvant thats for cleaning carby's
You can carefully use it to remove carbon from your engine by spraying it into the intake through the PCV system or other vacum hoses while the engine is running, at a slow rate (as not to flood it), then prompty change your very carbony oil. (Dont do it with the engine off as you can cause it to seize)

I havent done this yet but will very soon. Carbon buildup on valves and the like can really eat performance over time and cause pre ignition.
