hey i am trying to chang my eb back springs to lower but am having trouble getting top ball joint screw off it wont under just spin tried multi grips plyers and everything just keeps spinning any ideas

yeah i think so there is 5 nuts 4 undo easy one in middel just keeps spining

if you cant get the top one off, undo the bottom one... same difference.. just belt it with a hammer to get the bottom part of the shock out of its corresponding bracket on the diff..

err, you don't need to undo all 5 bolts to remove the back shocks .
only the one that holds the top of the shock into the big metal sqare rattle gun will always undo them, . |

That middle nut is on the shockie itself - it will be turning because you're simply rotating the shockie shaft inside the body. There should be flats on the part that protrudes thru the nut - you hold the flats with one spanner to stop the shaft rotating while you loosen the nut enough to wind it off without having to hold the flats.
You also of course have to remove the cross bolt at the bottom of the shockie - it should come out ok at the bottom but if it's tight, as has been mentioned you can just help it by tapping on it with something. The shockies might try to extend themselves if they're gas type - no need for panic as you should be able to overcome that extending pressure by hand no sweat (and it's only really an issue when re fitting the shockies). To remove the shockies you can either take them out thru the bottom - or if you undo those 4 nuts around the "top hat" part inside the car, then you can pull them up and out thru there. When it comes to removing / putting springs back, I trust you're aware that the process involves: 1. Remove shocks. 2. Lift whole rear of car from under diff centre housing. 3. Put chassis stands under rear chassis members just forward of lower arms. 4. CAREFULLY lower centre of diff housing until springs can be removed / fitted - TAKING CARE not to stretch/break any pipes or hoses or cables that run between the diff and the chassis.
