Okay, so I'm driving home from work tonight and the low coolant symbol comes on. I pull over and the coolant level in the coolant tank is perfect like always. So I'm wondering, is that where the actual low coolant sensor is? Because if it isn't I'm in trouble, but if it is, I'm also in trouble because I must need a new one.
How much is a new one likely to set me back?

I think the temp sensor is in the block somewhere ??
The coolant level sensor often gets clogged, this could mean your radiator is rusting from the inside. Get yourself 2 Allen keys and a screw driver, you put the allen keys into the level sensor (that sensor sticking into the side of the coolant reserve tank) then use the screwdriver to turn it out like a giant screw. You'll lose coolant down to that line but it wont be HEAPS. You'll probly find that it is clogged full of brown s**t, just clean it off with a rag and put it back in, only goes back in 1 way. If it still happens then you need to get a new one. |

Might have to explain that abit better ....
The sensor has 4 holes in it, opposite each other. Its for a special ford tool, but stick the allen keys opposite each other in 2 holes and turn them with the screwdriver

The Coolant temp sensor is in the bottom half of the thermostat housing.
As for the coolant level sensor it is inside the header (expansion) tank. To prevent coolant loss poke a length of tubing down through the radiator cap and syphon some out, you should be able to empty the header tank completely. Easiest way to remove the sensor is to poke the tips of a pair of pointed nose pliers into two opposite holes in the white ring and twist. once this is removed the sensor just pulls straight out. It is possible that all you will need to do is clean the sensor. When I replaced mine it leaked, so I smeared a small amount of selastic on the rubber seal.

If the coolant level is even a bit low, sometimes it'll set off the low level sensor around corners or on hills. Obviously it wasn't as 'perfect' as you thought?

But it was, the same place it was at after Kmart fixed everything up.

I took it to them because the way I figure it the men working there have nothing to profit from making up problems with my car. If I went to a privately owned place, then there is more of a motive to make up problems. Coolant level has been great since they fixed it all up, pressure tested the radiator too, and no leaks. Now I just gotta get onto my power steering, lol. EDIT: Forgot to mention, that symbol doesn't come up anymore.

I think he has a not so favourable testimony of their Mechanical prowess They are excellent at working on ure car...aslong as u want a f**k cooling system! so far it has cost $400ish to fix...and we still need to get some more s**t replaced...I would serioulsy NEVER take ANY car i ever have to kmart EVER AGAIN!

it wasnt me that put the car into kmart tho...it was my parents...atm i'm setting it up so that i dont have to pay a fortune when i receive it!
