Has anyone tried swapping heads from different models for more power or done porting and polishing or increased the engine compression or both and what were your results like ?

Were the results with an aftermarket/regrind cam or stock cam ?

Can we have some details please ?

Yeah, seeing this is the right thread. Anyone who's done minor porting and polishing, could you give us a rough price too please.

Cheers,
(sorry to hijack)

Actually i was about to ask how do you go about increasing compression, and how far can you take it running 98RON...

I slapped an EF tickford head on my EL with no other modifications, was very happy with the results.. more power lower down and higher up, seems to be just as fast as a mate who has the exact same mechanical setup only difference is he has comp pacies and 2.5" zorst.

i have an ED falcon 6, i did have an EF head with aftermarket cam when i bought the car. Since then i got my hands on a tickford XR6 complete motor. The XR6 heads have a slightly higher compression. i had the head reconditioned, port and polish, carbon head gasket and all that jazz. It cost me $900. the power gain i got from that work was compensated for a bit by only having a stock xr6 cam in it, which will work better with my turbo that is going on in the next few months anyway. Atm i am making about 150-160 kw @ wheels.

i hope this info will help.

tim.
