i think in that article they go on to say it wont work but there is a pic of another electric supercharger there and it will work. it uses three oddesy batteries (for greater energy discharge, better storage, faster charging) theres batteries operate the supercharger and can provide boost for around 60 seconds ( a long time to be on full boost). the batteries are re-charged via a trickle feed from you alt. Thins is all from my memory but it should be pretty much on the money. the e-ram looks dodgy to me.

Might be fun purely in the interest of curiosity...but don't get your hopes up to make serious gains.

Just remeber the energy in engergy out thing. You cant get something for nothing. Moving all that air at pressure into your engine takes alot of power.
Probabily in the order of 5-10Kw That's about 500Amp of current draw. Not impossible but you will need very thick cables, extra batteries upgraded alternator. There a a few genuine electric superchargers that do this but most are just rip offs. If in doubt ask for current draw or motor power output. Needs to be in the range of Killowats!

The other one in that Autospeed article sounds 'more' reasonable.
Quote: the ESC-400 uses an Eaton twin-rotor core that's driven by three custom wound electric motors. All three motors - totalling 18 horsepower - are mounted on a CNC 60-16 T6 aluminium billet bracket. Interestingly, the ESC-400 has its own independent power source - four high-capacity 12V batteries Quote: Note that the ESC-400 draws 600 - 1200 amps during operation
and the 'dynacharger' at the bottom of that article sounds interesting. For those without Autospeed subscrips, it comprises an electric motor mounted between the compressor and turbine of a conventional turbocharger. It has 2 'modes', Motor and generator mode. In motor mode, at low engine speed, it helps the turbocharger spool up. Then in generator mode, when the engine is on boost, and spinning faster then it could manage, it charges it's battery off the turbochargers rotational energy.
