what direction should the notch on the timing sprocket be facing when he engine is at top dead centre .. my timing is out , i think the chain tensioner loosened when i did the head gasket DIY

looking at the engine with the sproket facing you is the notch meant to be 3degrees up from the head on the left or right ?

and this should be when the dizzy is spun to fire cylinder 1.?

i need help cos car is running like a dog!!! firing into intake mani and everything.

turn the crank until cylinder 1 and 6 are at top, theres a mark on the timing case and the harmonic balancer that lines up, then cam sproket 3 degrees above head on the passenger side.
