Been doin a few bits and bobs to my engine........intake pipe,stainless lines and a bit of Autosol and elbow grease,painting the engine cover next......any opinions on a colour ???????

Looks nice n clean = good!
Engine cover I wouldnt paint; they look alrite on AU models, the EF/EL ones were ugly n didnt say "guess whats under hear" what so ever, more like "big ugly heavy v8, run away!" 
Looks perfect to me, if you want to paint something for that bit extra detail; id do the airbox/battery box/snorkle. Enjoy.

IMO, the engine cover you could get resprayed in silver with a flake throughout it or even a pearl or something if you like, coloured hoses, or maybe mine looks like this just to give you an idea. nothing special but i got bored  (bad pic mind u)

spray the relays, airbox, intake snorkel the same colour as the engine cover (looks the same as the car too
 )
I dunno if you could spray a battery with any amount of success, maybe make a cover for it and spray that instead
