I installed some Bendix Ultimates on the front my AU1 yesterday.
Went for a drive and they were stuck on so I pulled them back out and noticed the rear sliders were seized on both front calipers. I put the old pads back in so it could be driven until I could put a brake kit in it. Got the old pads back in, put it all together and went for a drive, now I have no brakes at all. You have to repeatedly pump the pedal to get the tiniest bit of brake friction, then the pads spring back off the rotor.... There is still heaps of fluid in the reservoir. Anyone have any ideas? Could seized sliders be causing this? Thanks guys

clean the sliders with petrol, and fine wet$dry if really dirty. then lube it up with some rubber grease, abt $10 from repco etc. get PBR rubber grease.
that should fix the siezed slider issues. siezed sliders should only affect the outside pad and so make the steering wheel shudder, and you losing quite a bit of brake force.

it would be the sliders! for sure
u can fix this without haveing to remove the calipers from the car, all u need to do is remove the 2 bolts holding the caliper to the backign plate ( as if u were doing a pad change ) the caliper should be lose remove the siezed slider and grease it up, do the other slider as well! NOW 1 slider needs rubber grease and 1 needs copper grease! as 1 slides in metal and teh other does not i have forgoton which way it is i think the rear slider u need copper grease i could be mistaken.

Good news, it was the sliders.
Free'd them up, greased and cleaned and now they're working better than ever. One quick question though. Should the rear sliders come right out of the caliper? Mine were sliding freely after i hit em with some petrol and a special punch i made, but the end seems to be tapered and I couldnt get them to come through the caliper. I didnt want to hit it harder incase i mushroomed the head or gouged the tube. Thanks guys.
