I am trying to install a cd player in my EF Futura wagon, can someone tell me which wire the earth is? i assumed it was the black one but it isn't working.
I had the autoelec check the acc and const power for me yesterday and they are both working so it must be the earth. also i have two orange (look like speaker wires) that are not in the doco! Please help!

A dark coloured one. Try black brown or dark red

Earth wire is a separate BLACK wire that attaches to the radio body

its defintely the black wire for the earth.
to test out whether the earth is working, make yourself a temporary earth by attaching a length of wire from the car chassis to the HU. its not often the earth doesn't work. its probably a constantant not working or the accersories. it cold also be a fuse blown in the car or the fuse on the CD player. Else it is the CD player thats broken.

Just attach the black wire from your HU to somthing metal in the car. Those two orage wires sound interesting. One of them may be an illumination wire (Commonly with a white stripe) which you shouldnt need unless you have a pretty up-market headunit.

it was the earth that wasn't working, had to run a new one to some metal on the car as suggested, and those orange wires were speaker wires! Thanks for your help guys!
