Hi,

I have a whining noise comming from my engine that started on turns that started today.

As i drove further on my way home it started to get a little worse.

The noise now is even starting to be heard when i am driving in a straight line.

When i got home there was a burnt like smell comming from the engine.

I was thinking the power steering pump as it started on turns, what do you think it could be?

Tim.

Ha,

I checked it now that it has cooled down and it is dry!

must have a leak seen as though it was good on the w/e!

What is the cost for a replacement p/s pump?

Tim

it might not be ur pump. check the boots on your power steering rack, are they full of power steering fluid, if so, rack is fuked.

It sounds more like a hose has split but the first thing to do is find where its leaking from!! Should be easy if its dumping it that quick..

Hmmm....not an AU nut an EF!

There is a leak comming from the switch....well i think that there was however now it is just filty with fluid reisdue and the leak on the path was from directly under the switch so.......i guesss the switch is to blame...

I priced around and got the following quotes for a replacement power steering switch:

Genuine Ford: $79.00
Local Wreckers: $30.00
eBay: $23.50 delivered!

Here is the link from eBay if you are interested: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4572023862

I am pretty sure that this is the right part.

Have any of you guys replaced this before? Difficult? Any tips/directions would be handy.

Cheers,
Tim.
