ABS has a ring of fins on the inside of the hub - the proper name escapes me right now. These fins are used by the ABS sensor to detect if the wheel has locked up.

I believe the answer would be yes, but non abs rotors are cheaper if you dont need the ABS part.

On a somewhat related subject, are the sensor rings fitted to all four wheels on Falcons or just the front end? Looking through the DBA catalogue there's no mention of rear discs for ABS-equipped vehicles (like my Fairmont) and I was wondering if this was normal or not.

Having just had mine off, yes, they're on all four wheels.

Front discs have tone wheels as already explained - rear discs are the same for ABS/non ABS - there are pulse rings fitted to the rear axles for this purpose.

ABS wouldn't work. Or may be confused if say you had ABS rotors up front, but not on back. It should detect the difference, and disable the system - you'd have normal brakes.
