How long has someone gone on their 4.0L engine (in kms) until the head gaskets have to been replaced? I am currently at 184,000 kms and all looks ok.

Like Isaid somewere else there's an ex cab EB with over a million and it has NEVER had the rocker cover removed so the owner swears.
My car with 640,000 has never had an engine rebuild or anything so the previous owner tells me (and why would he lie, I mean a rebuild would be good thing in this case).
Moms EB II Fairmont has almost 300,000km's now and the rocker cover has never been removed.

If you treat your car well and look after your cooling system you should be fine. Although there a few unlucky ones.
