Hey,

My old Air Con compressor shat itself. Buying a new one.

Is it a simple job to remove and replace this on a 1995 falcon?

Wondering if i should gie it a goor send it to the auto-electrician.

Anyone done it? Got any tips or pics?

Cheers,
Tim

Depends how good you are with spanners and wether you have an air conditioning licence as it has to be decommissioned and flushed ( to get rid of any contaminents ) and a new reciever/drier fitted and then regassed and tested I suggest you seek out the help of an air conditioning repairer

Apart from removing, replacing and re-gassing the compressor what else needs to be done?

Tim

make sure u put the right amount of pag oil in and gas. replace the o rings to in the pipes. good i dear to replace the reciver/dryer to although most people dont. if the oil is really blcak then i would flush the system and replace the receiver dryer. if its still clear looking then u could get away with it. just remember that after 24 hr of the system beeing open they say u should replace the recever/dryer.
also a tip i find that if u put about 10% less gas in than they reconmend i find the aircon works better, well on bmw anyway

Yeah when the Air con failed about 3 years ago the Auto Electrician quoted around $900 for a newie and install!

I picked up....or am in the process of picking up a second hand compressor for $50.

Auto electricial quoted $180 to remove, replace and regas it so that sounds like a good deal.

Just hope that nothing else popped up for repair in the system!

Cheers,
Tim

if ur aircon hasnt worked for 3 years id say all most 100% that all the saels would have gone dry and u will have some leaks when u get it gased.
