I recently picked up a new EL GT front swaybar from FTG ($65)

Anyway the bar is 28mm (I measured it). (The standard bar is 27mm) Although Ford and Nolothane bushes only come in 27mm for an EL. I even asked ford and they said that 27mm bushes are what is specified for a GT. Although when I questioned him he said AU's have 28mm bushes and they may fit on.

What should I do? Nolothane say that you have to use the correct size bushes (28mm) Ford say 27mm. Has anyone tried the 28mm AU bushes with this setup?

you can get bushes from pedders, whiteline, kmac or anyone else too. doesnt have to be ford

There's no way the 27mm bushes are gonna work.
Sometimes ford can say the stupidest things...
Like fuzion said, try some of the other guys that do suspension bushing, and if all else fails, try the AU ones.
It makes sense that they'd work, seeing as the swaybar was probably a development from the GT anyway.

You could always try the bushes out of an XH 1 tonne ute. The stabilizer bar is the same as the GT

I checked again with ford and they still say 27mm bushes.

I installed the bar using my standard 27mm Rubber bushes. They are a little worn but not split or damaged.

I think the combination of them being worn and rubber allowed the bar to fit easily since the bushes fit into the housings and bolted back up to the car without any gaps or excessive force.

I will probabily change them with 28mm AU Nolothane bushes later.

But for now the car handles awesome. Quicker to change direction and has helped the slight oversteer it gets in fast corners. Slow corners still have plenty of power oversteer available. No apparent increase in NVH.

$65 well spent.
