Does the ford I6 have a pressure relief valve that can be accessed without opening the engine?

My oil pressures doing funny things (apparently, could be gauge/electrics) and this weekend im doing oil/filter change and i was considering (if possible) pulling the relief valve out and giving it a clean/look to see if its scored or anything.

But then again i doubt the valve is accessible from outside?

Failing that is there any wires or anything i can check on the pressure sender/gauge or anything because its mighty strange.. the pressure will go right up just below the red bit.. sit up there for a bit and go straight down so yeah. any help guys... :D:D

more pressure is good. can't have too much. fluctuating is not so good. could just be the sender unit is buggered. does this happen all the time whilst driving or when hot/cold etc. it will tend to rise with the revs to a certain degree but not a lot.

Happens fairly regularly while driving. When warm i THINK. But what happens is i'll be cruising along.. will see pressure come up (supposedly) and i'll just give the accelerator a tap and it'll go down. or sometimes i can brake a bit and it'll go down. or shift into neutral.

But the thing that makes me think its not actually the pressure going up and down is because it comes up/goes down really quick. like it doesnt rise slowly it just goes bang and its high.. then bang and its low.

And yeah i can see it rise with the revs normally, but its not that :-\

more pressure is not good and you can definatly have to much.

to much oil pressure will hammer the bearings in your engine and lower the life of your engine.

the only time you should change the pressure is if you have built the engine with bearing clearences other then stock.
