I have an EL fairmont and want to put an 8" sub where the factory one should go.

Problem is i've got an 81 litre LPG tank there and the sub is about 1" too deep. The sub in question is a polycone Response thing from jaycar.

Has anyone mounted it and modified the parcel shelf so it fits however I dont want the sub to be seen from outside the car, I'd rather a bulge there and no evidence of a speaker.
Hey Bozz,
how did you go with your sub? I am looking at the same thing at the moment and also need some pointers.
Cheers

Haven't done a thing with it. Other things have been keeping me busy.

dont bother with the stop pioneer 8" sub.

it blows up too easily when you run a powerful amp. And the ford spacer for to the sub, is somewhere in the $200 mark (1 yr ago, that was for employees only price, not retail).

should go and get yourself a proper sub.

So tell me of a sub that will fit in the given space that can handle about 50wrms

That's all I need.

Sorry, I should add,

I dont want a box

I dont want the speaker exposed

I dont want any big brand names in view

I want it stealth

I dont want it not stealth

I want to know if a deep speaker can be fitted with a spacer and made to look factory

I dont want to know if you have a big box in the boot with a sub in it

I only want to know if you've fitted an 8" in the factory position in the middle of the rear parcel shelf.

----

Would it be a better idea to get a different shallower speaker that will fit?

there is a factory ford spacer you can buy for the lpg subwoofer mount ..

Thanks, I did notice the comments on this thread but the Jaycar 8" sub has a huge magnet and I still don't think that will clear the tank based on EagleAus's pictures.
