hay i just run coolant flush through my coolant system. it said on the bottle 10 mins or a few hours for heavily built scale. well i had to go to work after putting it in and its been in there for like six hours now. its alkaline salts and it says on the bottle alloy safe. just wondering, do you think it'll start to dissolve stuff if i leave it in there? i guess i should know but i'd have to refresh myself with a text book.

Was there a big warning on the bottle saying 'DO NOT LEAVE IN FOR 6 HOURS'?

If anything it would have attacked hoses, maybe plastic tanks in side tanks of radiator.
Keep an eye on things. Should be OK.

i read in my ford manual it said the alkaline salts will not harm the metal unless exposed to alloy for extended periods of time under heat, but the bottle said alloy safe so i guess its ok. i'm a little dissapointed but, i thought that the flush would get all of the lime out but at most its gotten half of it out from what i can see, i can use acid but i would'nt want to leave that in for so long.

i mean at most theres half in but thats stretching it, i fully drained the coolant system so theyll be dregs in there but not a lot if you catch my meaning, i could have gotten a hose and flushed the flush out but then i'd be putting mineralised water back in lol

and if you don't flush the flush you risk leaving some in there. and if you are using inhibator it doesn't matter anyway.
remember this is an iron block and if you have rust in there already it won't make a hoots difference any way.

lol true, major concern is collaguation of inhibiter and flush, but i actually got a cupfull of inhibeter and flush and mixed them and there was nothing so i did'nt need to get it all out. if that makes sence, if there was precipitate then i'd worry
