Guys,
Got a small problem with the brakes. The car stops well, but I am worried as the pedal was very firm the day before. I have checked everything and there are no leaks and the level is ok, but yesterday the brake pedal went almost to the floor. I do have a fault with the abs, I think one of the sensors is shot, but that wouldn't cause this problem. Has anyone ever had an internal leak in the master cyl? Chris

Put your foot on the pedal push down, then start the car, if the pedal sinks, yuor booster is fine, if the pedal dont move, your booster is rooted,
if its fine, you air in your lines, bleed em, all the above is valid, if your not losing any fluid. I would think thatif the seals on the pistions in the m/cyl were rooted, you would have leakage, out the end of the m/cyl. |

Thanks guys,
I will try your suggestion bowsaw re the booster and master cyl, but I doubt the fluid has air in it as the brakes had new fluid pumped thru till clear about 1 month ago, just before blue slip and there are no leaks anywhere so I'm thinking internal leak.

Internal, my understanding is that if it leaks past the piston seals in m/cyl it will be a visible leak

It would, but not if there was 3 seals, one to pressurise the front brakes section, one for the rear brakes, and one at the back to stop it leaking out the back of the master cyl, and it is leaking between the front and rear sections.
I will need to have a look at the ford workshop manual, hopefully there is an exploded view. Will let you know what I find out.

Not sure what is going on, but also had a talk to a mech today, low and behold on the way to Spiders place it seemed to fix itself.
I will still be looking into it, I don't want to loose the brakes altogether. Cheers for the help guys.
