I've been having some issues with my central locking for some time now..
Firstly it start off repeatedly opening and locking if I accedently bumped my elbow in on the drivers side lock while resting my arm while driving... It would go on and repeatedly open and lock about 30-40 times. Now this would drive me pretty crazy... It had stopped doing it for a while, but all of a sudden it's been doing it again. and now when I press the lock button on my keypad when I want to lock the car, all doors but the drivers door will lock (unless I use the key to lock that door by it's self). Also when I go to open the doors with the remote the doors will instantly unlock and lock again with one single button press and all doors will remain locked unless you quickly open the door before it locks again. The only way to open the drivers side door is to reach into the car from another door and open the door from the inside. If anyone has had any kind of similar experence with their central locking, some help would be appreciated... or if you could point me in the right direction of help. Cheers |

ha ha i think everyone with an ef's had this problem, basically you need to replace the actuators (which is the mechanism thats moves the looks up and down) a set of four from ford will set u back around $400
but your best bet is to get some from an EL as they didnt have the problem as bad as teh EF's If i remember right the EF's were recalled for this problem but not everyone would of had it done because the actuators may not have been giving them grief at the time; |

Never say you cant! Anything is possible, but theyre not a direct fit. I think there was someone floating around before the site went down that had done it, but it was probably not worth it

sometimes its just one of the actuators thats stuffed - so if you can identify which one is out of sync, then replace that one only - it may solve the problem, it may not - at least it might stop you having to replace all 4 at once!

I'm pretty certain that it's the drivers door that is out of sync...
Do the EL ones fit straight in? I might see if Ferntree Gully Auto Salvage have some cheers for the tips pplz |

AU is radically different I think. Actuator and lock are all part of one assembly. Well that's what it looked like when we dissassembled a mate's AU.

According to ford, it would be best to replace all 4, because if just one is out of sync it can cause them all to f**k up...
So I'm thinking i might replace the front 2 and see how I go, then if it doesnt go well, I will replace all 4. ferntree gully auto salavage is sorting me out with them though... so i will see how I go. |

my mates was doing the same - he kinda fixed the problem with a bit of silicon - maybe give him a PM - his nick is Smackdown. not exactly sure what he did, but i can honestly say that it did fix his problem for a period of time at least...
