not something like the steering lock jamming on for whatever reason? (you obviously had the keys in it if you were reversing)
only thing that comes to mind as you can still turn the wheel if your ps fails.. its hard but... -mitch

i took it up the street and when i was driving say at 50 k's then i could steer, still was a little hard but when i am going slow it's like i've got no power steering at at, the tension on the belt is fine, maybe i have a blokage in the line somewhere, or something like that, or maybe the pitman arm is bent or something?????????

To me it sounds like there could be a blockage in the power steering line somewhere or an air lock.
