Sorry, can'nt take any credit for this one it appers that Rob's (engineer) boss has had major falling out with Vic roads in the past which as he stated there a pack of d**k heads...... & has cost him a lot of money to sort problems out.
So Danedgli as you know I tried for you but if I can help you before you go for the emission test & we can put it on my rollers as I have a 4 gas exhaust anyliser, we can try to get it down to a passable level.... there main concern is N.O.X. So let me know if you intrested.. Joe Crescent Motorsport. |

As long as a VIC engineer will accept the IM240 test results... Here's a quote from the NSW RTA on use of their own test by a signatory engineer: IM240 is a comparison test for emissions which is under evaluation by the RTA. This test has not been approved for adoption within the scheme and therefore it may not be used for the purpose of showing compliance with emission requirements for modified vehicle. A signatory must always prove compliance with the applicable ADR without resorting to IM240 Apparently some engineers either don't know this or pretend not to know. Any engineer who passes a vehicle for NSW RTA based on an IM240 test could get in trouble for it and any vehicle certified that way could be rejected until a full ADR emission test is done.

Good stuff Joe, we need all the help we can get..
Just a simple question, I've been told that it would be impossible to get my car engineered as it is running an aftermarket ECU (Wolf 3d) which can have the setting changed at any time.. Is this true??? Cheers Tim |

I dont think it matters, I mentioned the haltech to my engineer and he said as long as it passes the emission test its fine.
This engineer will sign off on the IMT240 test, he says it is close enough to an ADR37 test that he can sign it off. I figure if I can pass the 240 test then I should be able to pass a regular EPA test. Im not sure how they test you for emissions when you get pulled over anyway. The only test I have heard about is the noise test and they just ensure you are running all the factory pollution gear. If everything done to the car is engineered which it will be then it should be fine. Im just worried about passing the initial test. I go in next tuesday for it. The car is getting retuned on thursday to try and get it close to factory specs on a gas analyser. |

The emission ADRs have had anti-tampering requirements since 7/1976! A computer that is fully adjustable and not somehow made tamperproof (password, whatever) doesn't comply with the anti-tampering requirements of the ADRs. It can meet the actual emission requirements but fail simply because it could be adjusted.

I know that the MoTeC's have the ability to be password protected both for ADR and the fact that certain tuning parameters are controlled for many motorsport classes, for example V8 Supercars.

Tim, if your 3D wolf dose have pass word protection a letter from your orthorised tunner with the pass code, & as long as your car passes the epa test I can't see you having a problem.
This is what I was told by EMS as now I 've become an orthorised dealer. cheers Joe............CMS |
