The two on the left are oil pressure and boost/vac - both mechanical. The one under the ashtray shows air/fuel ratios as read by the oxygen sensors.

Sweet guys thanks for the ideas - they all look pretty cool.
XCH45R what gauge is that you have? I was thinking about oil and transmission temp gauges too, I like knowing how hot things are LOL. |

Trans temp gauge is next on my list, assuming $2500 doesnt fall into my lap for a manual conversion.
So far i've been put off by the fitment of these. Basically need to tap a sensor into the oil pan on the bottom of the tranny.

Would be pretty interesting to see what temperature the fluid in the return line is too. Bah too many gauges lol.
Need like a single little touch screen with sensors going like everywhere to monitor all sorts of things (like v8 supercar telemetry), but now I'm in fantasy land again....dammit.... |

If your just doing one gauge, I'd do it there, that way it won't look too random. You'd be able to get a small enough gauge that'll fit in there. An average gauge is 2 and 1/16th of an inch, and hence wont fit in there. However, im in the same position as you are. What im currently in the process of is getting that triangular piece of the dash and molding two gauge holders in there. Ive used 2" white PVC pipe, cut on about a 30degree angle in a mitresaw with the shortest side being about 5mm, and the other about 35 i spose. Once this has been done, i just run a slit down the short side and place it over the gauge. Then ill make the cutouts in the dash piece, place the gauge and holder against the dash, and afix it there with either fibreglass of body filler. Leave it to cure, remove the gauges, and then paint to suit. Should turn out fine, and leave me with enough space for three gauges that will face me nice and clearly. The other possible location would be to put a pair of gauges down underneath the radio bezel, in the gap between the console and dash. Shouldnt be too hard to figure somethingout. Good luck

I havent done it yet! I had organised a dash piece just before FM1 finished for a holiday, and havent made contact since. Im also running short of time so it might have to wait till after christmas

The R34 GT-R has an electronic binnacle like that. Monitors everything from Boost, exhaust manifold temp, fuel pressure, to Front/Rear Torque split! Its located on an TFT panel where the gauges are in the new FPVs (top of the centre console) |
