As Im in need of a stronger auto, I was thinking maybe the AU auto is stronger due to poeple using the AU belts and solenoids in early autos.

Any comments on this idea?

The AU box is slightly stronger IMO but I would just rebuild yours with either AU spec or better parts. On high hp cars, just make sure you get the best bands possible.
