Hi Guys,

I wouldnt normally use this forum for selling my car, but i deeply regret the decision, and need somewhere to vent...

I am doing a lot of Canberra to Sydney trips these days and i am getting the s**t with the Sydney traffic in a 1700kg manual V8, so i am going to downsize a little.

If anyone is interested in an EL2 XR8 in damn good condition, i have it currently advertised on allclassifieds.com at a pretty ridiculous $16,000! Its got all the available options plus more, so have a look and let me know if your interested.

I have enjoyed being part of the V8 boys club, but now it is time for me to become a girl. :(

Cheers

Might have better luck in the For Sale section, that'd be were I'd look if I was buying a car, and you might want to make the title a bit more relevent to get potential buyers to notice it - e.g. "Ford sale EL2 XR8".

you might also have a better chance selling it if it was a couple grand cheaper! people arn't buying V8's with petrol prices the way they are now

I disagree, v8's are still selling easily. Not everyone is worried about prices going up 20-30 cents a litre. How many v8's do u see driving around? I havent seen a massive influx of v8's coming up for sale all round nsw.

But to sell it you will have to have a competitive price.
When I sold mine I looked at heaps of cars the same to get an idea.
Most people wont buy the first car they see, even if yours is a few hundred more or up, people will walk straight past. All depends how quickly you want to sell it in the end.

Even when I didnt advertise my Ks havent heard of any real interest in my Fairmont Ghia V8 with Tickford bodykit.

I disagree again. Hard to sell V8s now.

Having owned an EF 6 and the EL 8, my fuel economy has always been much better in the 8! If you try to get V8 performance out of the 6, you rev the balls off it all the time, and thats what uses the fuel. My driving these days hardly gets above 3 thousand revs unless i wanna give it a kick.

The EF fairmont i was getting 16L/100k and with the XR8 i am getting 12.6L/100 over the last 6-7 weeks which is a pretty reasonable reading over a good period of time.

People who reckon V8's are terribly inefficient probably have never owned one. They are only as pricey as you wanna make them, and you get better performance with out having to give it your all - dont even talk to me about the fuel costs on turboed engines :)

If only everyone else realised that.
