Yeah i know it's kinda stupid, but my dash is stuffed and im gunna install a new one anyway, so im gunna try to mount a normal PS2 into the dash above the glovebox. Question...is there enough room behind the crashpad to do it, or does stuff need to be moved for it to fit? I wanna cut this dash up b4 i fit the new one, as the new dash is being trimmed in leather to suit the rest of my trim

You might be able to hack up one of the new slimline PS2s and mount it in the dash though given the trouble this guy had:
http://benheck.com/Games/PS2p%201.htm I wouldn't exactly be falling over myself trying to mount in in a car dash...

what sort of screen were you looking at using? i've just been browsing eBay today for 7" and 8" LCD screens and theres some for really cheap ie. $200 inc p&h. the reason i was looking was because i wanna stick a computer in my boot and stick all my music then run it thru my deck, never need a CD again.

um you do realize if you were to mount it into the dash. there would be no cool air for the fan to use to cool the ps2. it will overheat like a b**ch and fry the circuite.

Yeah you need to make sure you have plenty of airflow from any sorta device that produces high heat eg: ps2 or PC.

a bloke at work cut up his glove box for his Sportswagon and put a PS2 in. He refiberglassed the front and vinyl covered, did a top job. The face of the unit pocks through, and you can still open the glovebox and use the top section. he cut a hole in the back for the fan and there hasn't been any over heating issues.

Yeah, im using a 7'' screen that ive moulded into where the Head Unit used to sit, and my head unit now sits in the gap for the air con vents. I've sealed up the vents behind the dash, and if there were room behind the dash skin i cant see any problem getting cooling to it, all i wanna know is, is there room to cut a hole in the dash, and without moving anything, mount the PS2 there...

Short answer is yes, you can mount it in the dash. Have seen a PS2 (big one, not mini) mounted in the dash of an EA. Stuck out maybe 18mm at the most. Also had just enough room behind it to sqeeze the power inverter in. Did not have any over heating issues, however he did recieve a canary for it as it had sharp edges...

just mount it under the passengers side seat, lots of room, still accessable and when it outdated (which is soon) its easier to update
