I notice when I start the car & drive it straight away if I have to brake the brakes wont go on at all.
Now if I let the car idle for a minute or more I will hear the idle speed motor close then I have full braking power. Now does the idle speed motor control functions like cutting off the brake pressure until the car is running smooth & warm?

The brakes are assisted by vacuum, and will still work - albiet poorly even without vacuum.
Check for a vacuum leak.

All go and no slow makes Ben_Daui a dead man.
Get your brakes fixed before you kill yourself or someone else. |

It's either a vacuum leak or the plastic piece that the hose attaches to at the booster. it is a one way valve designed to maintain the vacuum in the booster between starts. if it is faulty it does exactly what you are saying they are only a couple a bucks and it simply pulls out.
