Drop back to a 3.25

Diff gearing and turbo's is a bit of a black art. Too short and you don't load the car up enough to build consistent boost, too tall and its a slug.

Most of the X series falcon runners run 3.23:1 or 3.25:1 diff gears. The VL commadore guys all run between 3.45:1 and 3.73:1. The mustang guys in the US all seem to use 3.45:1. I wonder how a 1400kg turbo'd falcon would go with 3.45:1 diff gears. Theres a certain turbo cortina in wollongong that runs 4.11:1 diff gears and it almost proves my point about too short diff gears. As it takes off the front wheels lift a bit and the whole way down the strip they are gently touching the ground and lifting again.

I said go 3.25 because that 10.2 second red one uses that ratio I'm pretty sure. I would have used 3.25 but mine is just too heavy for it.

The only way to get the right diff gears it to run about 200 passes and keep changing the diff gears after every couple of runs.

Well leaving an unregistered car in your front yard when you live in a slightly well to do suburb is sure to piss plenty of people right off. The neighbors threatened to call the cops if I didn't remove it soon.

My brother bought a wrecked VL turbo in febuary and hustled it under the carport in the backyard while my XF was still mobile. Then when the gearbox started to slip 6 months ago I stopped driving it and its layed dormant ever since. I don't mind letting it go "If the next one that comes along is in half decent nick". The only damage mine had was 2 dented door skins and the 2 rear guard lips were scratched and slightly dented cause old mildred the 80 yo pensioner had trouble pulling out of woollies carpark when she had the car. Apart from that it had miniumal rust but the mechanicals were pretty much shagged. Still running but leaking a lot of fluids.

No chance in hell. I was thinking of using a dominello or solo hercules built C4 as you can get either one of these built for around 3.5k. One guy I know has a dominello in his VL and it pulls repeatable 10.20's. Another guy I know has the hercules box in his VL and he is hoping for repeatable 9's when his car is finished.

I guy that i worked for has a bullnose sequential toploader. I want it.

You cant miss gears, you change when you want, oh yeah, and the old drag cars used to use them!

He wants about 2 grand.
