Hi everyone.....i know this is not ford related but i really need help , my dad just bought a set of IPF 900 driving lights and on the instructions it has two ways of installation, one being "for vehicles with postive high beam switching" and the other "for vehicles with negative high beam switching", and its a nissan patrol gu series 3 , so do you guys know which one is for the patrol? or how do i test for it. or even what it really means???
any help would be greatly appriciated thanks. lostdude |

it probly means if you are switching your negative instead of your positive on your switch. negative switching would be a better option, if the wire gets crushed from your relay 2 your switch the worst case the spot lights turn on. pick up your high beam feed from one of the lights under the bonnet connect it through your coil of your relay bring the wire from the other side of the coil up into the cabin and onto one side of a switch from the other side of the switch connect it to a earth inside the car.

it's been 6 months since i installed a set of IPF's, but i assume you got the wiring loom with the spotties too?
simply run the high beam wire from the relay to the high beam wire on the back of one of the headlights (use the one on whatever side the batteries are on, try to keep all wires as short as possible) you wont be able to use negative switching as the headlights arent set up that way if i was closer i'd install them for ya voids: what car do you have? i'm in your area every couple of months

negative headlight switching was mainly on pre-1980 vehicles with twin seperate high beam headlights, ie: four headlight cars.
My old crown used to have this, and for me to wire up the spotties was a nightmare, had to reverse everything and run more than one relay to each light.
