Is it possible to transfer the LSD internals from an EA with the 25 spline axles etc, to an EB.
The EA diff is a 3.23 ratio, and the EB is 3.27.

I would transfer the whole lot, but I just realised I would lose my ABS tone wheels, and downgrade from 28 spline axles.

So yeah, can you just transfer the LSD bits over and keep everything else the same?

Cheers.

LSD centre with 25 splines means 25 spline axles.. I don't know of any EA or earlier fords with ABS, so you will loose that, unless you want to modify the 25spline axels, and stick sensors on them. Im pretty sure it's doable... And are you sure that the EA is 3.23, because the EA manual were 2.92 or 2.97 or something for manuals. The Wagons, and V8's got the high performance 3.27, and the usual LSD was a 3.23 in the EB's, and 3.08 for the single spinners.

So you sure it's from an EA with 25 splines? count them.

Cheers

Well it has the thinner trailing arm mounts and the different yoke thingy.
The tag says, 3.23, I don't want the 3.23 gears but I do want the LSD bits if at all possible??

The gears don't really matter, just 3.23 is normally a 28 spline centre. Just check... saves you alot of trouble.

Cheers

If not, is it not possible - even for a diff shop?

Thats the problem - there were no EB1 XR6's, only XR8's. XR6's came out in SII and with a 3.45.

I'm not going to bother with it all now I think, just fix my old one up.

...umm.. Im pretty sure the EBII XR6's came with 3.23's, the EF/ELs came with 3.45 AFAIK..My memory might be dying but yeah.

And if it is a 25 spline, it is possible. If its a 28, even better.

Oh, and the series one XR6's did exist. They were called SXR6 or something.

Cheers

Nah there were definately no Series 1 XR6's, only XR8's.
The FPV website says it all really: http://www.fpv.com.au/index.asp?link_id=4.125
Anyways a bit off topic there lol...

Well yobbo's old car is a series one FALCON S-XR8 and I know for a fact as I have 3 books on fords that there was a FALCON S,FALCON S-XR6 & S-XR8 in EB's series 1-2 & it went from ED that it was a pure XR.

Nope, just XR8's for series 1, unless you want to scan in your 3 magic books and prove it 8-)

I'm pretty sure that the auto's came with the 3.45.
I know that's the way it worked in the ED, so I assume it was the same practice for the EBII.
FPV site claims the manual came with the 3.45, but me thinks thats s**t...
