This is an idea I started toying with yesterday after scrapping my old front bar and removing the brake duct vents :)

The car is getting resprayed in a few weeks and I'm thinking about cutting holes in the front guards and mounting the brake duct vents there.

What do you think ?
I think they have the potential to look good, but could also look bad...

They could also go like this, but I'm tending towards the first one if at all.

Oh, and before anyone says SS commodore, plenty of cars had guard vents before them (and I would actually duct them into the engine bay for cooling)

Also keep in mind that I'm fitting BA GT sideskirts and EL GT scoop so it could go with a finned vent type theme throughtout

What other styles have you seen fuz ?

Scouting ebay it looks like they mainly have the M3 style "fender vents" which I reckon wouldn't look any good with all the rest of the bits and pieces I have (and no chrome)
Image

There's also these scion tc vents, but I don't like them either
Image

Failing that they're large, chunky, tacky looking things which I can do without...

I don't have to have vents, I just thought if I've got em laying around I could make use of em :)

If you are going to go ahead with putting vents in go above or below the crease, not through it like in the second pic. It will be much easier to get it to blend in and look normal.

not a bad idea just not those vents and as long as it will sit flush with the guard (not stick out) i think it could look good

Yeah it's a bit hard with that crease, looking at other cars that's right about where the vents sit!

If I find an old guard laying around I might have a play with it and see how it looks. Might even take to it with the angle grinder oldskool monaro style :P

Like just put some slits into it?
Here's an idea, you know the crease that runs through it, what you you grind into that, and so the crease actually becomes a vent? Kinda get what I mean? Might be able to blend it in...
