Does anyone know of any problems relating to converting a BA 6cyl to dual fuel? I have mine booked in for Dec 05 and would be interested in any feedback before I go ahead. Cheers.

There is a business in Melbourne that does the BA Fairlanes for around the $2400 mark. Seen a lot of the "VHA" cars around the CBD on LPG, even some of the 5.4 V8s on LPG. Any car can be converted to LPG. Depends on the boot space, tank capacity and so on.

Dave,
Cheapest quote was $2500......others have been up to $3500. The guy doing mine is a local who the local Ford dealer used to do some AU's recently. We get a $500.00 rebate also from the government here in the west. Regards Chris.

I have been told that you cannot convert the ba to run on LPG, most of the workshops in NSW will not touch them. They say that the motor is not strong enough for the LPG. I heard of one that only covered 10000km before the motor blew up.

The same BA motor that puts out 240kw in the xr6t? Exactly what part of the motor isnt strong enough...?

or 270kw and 550nm in the typhoon.. I think the egas ba's have stronger valve springs don't they? |

the internals of the EGAS BA's, turbos and typhoons are different... different valves and springs, and tne EGAS ones have different materials in the valve guides etc. Why not just buy an EGAS BA? than its all factory which believe me will aid in problem solving in years to come.. alot (not all) but alot of aftermarket gas installers do dodgy things

I cant believe that the stock BA engines have weaker valve trains than my old EF engine...

maybe not weaker.. but u lose warranty.. and why use something thats not designed for it when u can buy a car from ford built for it? which will no doubt give u better power and economy anyway
