i just went out and baught a new pioneer, head unit, and have removed the factory tape deck unit. And i was just wondering which wires go to which etc. because there are more wiores in the car then there are with the new unit. (btw its a 94 ED GLi)

get urself a multimeter and then u can find out which is permanent power which is accesories and u will know whs ground..... then to locate speaker wires just have a look behind each speaker to see wot colour they are

Can also pop test the speakers with 12v (i.e. battery from a cordless drill).

I would visit someone like SuperCheap or the like and get a wiring harness kit like a APP8PIO from Aerpro.

its ok people, i found a doco on this website and it is all done and finished now. all i have to do is get better reaer speakers.

I dont think a pop test with 12 volts is wise, better off using a AA battery or Ohms X 1 on the analogue multi meter, 12 volts could burn out the speaker coil.
