Just installed a new JVC HU, JVC 6", JVC 10" sub and a cheap a** amp in my EF. Problem is after finishing off about half hour ago I now have no dash lights.
Got me buggered, as far as I know never went near anything that could do that.
The only thing I can think of is the brown wire that runs the back lighting for the std HU, does that affect the rest of the dash lighting?????[/u]

Yeah, fuse is definitely the go. I normaly blow about 3 fuses when i install a head unit....get a bit snip happy, cross some wires. Normaly nail the interior lights, dash lights, cig power and the smartlock one.

lol. I've only blown one while installing a trip comp with the car still on - was listening to the radio. Everything was good til I went to drive it. Noticed no cluster readouts, and very poor performance.

INST-BATT fuse.

Check your CRT LAMP fuse, thats the one that controls all the lights.

If you disconnected the positive terminal from the battery before ibnstalling i dont see how the fuse could blow?

But if for some reaons you DIDN:T discconect the battery (positive or negative terminal) then it may well be the fuse.

Anoth common mistake is to connect the headunit earth to the illumination wire, because with the lights off it shows as an earth, but when there on it powers up and stops the headunit working and blows fuse...
