Just check all the normal stuff, spark plugs, leads etc. Do you have enough fuel in your tank? Maybe all the fuel is draining away from the pump on an incline, or maybe just bad fuel? Bastards probably watering it down these days to make even more $$$

You say die, and revs go to zero.
Do you mean it actually stops?
Or just the dash dies?

'Normally' the ECON light flashing means the transmission oil is overheating (the trans also locks in 3rd or 4th) - does the tranny shift and operate okay ???

I had the same issue with my fiance's car a while back. A coule of days later it wouldn't start at all.

Turns out is was the BEM that stopped it starting. Since that got replaced, we've had no worries with it at all.

I don't know why or how the BEM was affecting the tranny, or even if it was affecting the tranny. Just some food for thought.
