Whats the ideal base timing for an EL monty ghia running on 98 octane? its the I6 with the tickford head. Specs are +/- 2deg BTDC Just wanna know what people find is the best setting. tnx.

I think you will fid base timing is 10 Degrees BTDC + or - 2 degrees

I think you will find you are wrong. We are talking EL not ED here. Playing with timing on an EL at Heathcote recently, found that about 4 deg BTDC did the job well. Anymore and its likely to ping and end up using more fuel. I have tried this on my EL Ghia with BP Ultimate and found ZERO difference to performance and fuel economy. My car is very sensitive to even 1 or 2 deg of ignition timing change. |
