Having a look at my new baby, I searched the net to see if I could find info on how to tune the gas system on my car. Amazingly, I found it!

It's really simple to tune it aswell, apart from one thing. The d***head who installed the gas system put the converter under the car with a guard around it and the only way you can get to it to tune the car is to jack the car up.

I get so fed up with people who don't think through what they're doing before they do it.

Considering you might need to adjust the mixture screw in the converter 5 or 6 or even more times, it neccessitates the jacking of the car every single time!! What's more, the testing had to be done @ WOT which means a 10 min drive to the closest decent hill, a 10 min drive back to jack the car up, another 10 min drive to the hill again etc etc etc.

Even if you do it on a dyno it's not much better. No-one's going to put a car on a dyno and run the engine up to 4500 RPM @ WOT with the front pearched 2' in the air balancing on a jack!

But seriously, who else had heard of gas converters being installed under that car with covers over them next to the gearbox?

It makes about as much sense as putting the heater controls under the passenger's seat.

i've never seen it or heard of it, shouldent be too hard mounting it in the engine bay, just make sure u can the obvious precautions!

not sure if you will be able to move the convetor as u will need a longer service ( gas ) line ie the line from the tank to the converter that carries the liquid lpg.

if the car is dual fuel i woul recomend takign the convertor off and moving it to the engine bay in the desired spot, move all associated wires and heating hoses as well
remove the gas service line and then take the car to a LPG certified mech and get a new service line installed

That's the last place i would think a converter should be placed.
Who installed the system & does it have an AAFB compliance plate on it ?

From what i understand, one should aim to have the shortest possible gas path between the converter and mixer otherwise the change in gas mixture will lag what is required by the engine - sort of like a turbo but without the power surge once boost kicks in.

This may explain why your car is guttless on lpg.

Yes the normal sport for Falcons is on the DRIVERS SIDE above the STRUT TOWER!
NOT BELOW the firewall on the PASSENGER SIDE as you've just told me is the "normal spot".
Maybe next time you try to make me look like a tool you shouldn't end up making yourself look like a retard...
