Hey
I have just looked at my wiring, and i noticed that there is a plug above the demister that has the 2 wires (brown and blue/red) i need to power the trip computer. Could i just use those wires in the plug to power up the TC, if so how do you get the wires out of that plug, and put them into the plug that the TC uses? Could be just a case of switching the wires, then all i need to do is add the data wire |

you want to keep those wires in the demister plug, just splice some more wire off of them. (strip a bit of insulation back, and then solder a new piece of wire onto it.
Anyway, the plugs used are vastly different shapes, so you won't be able to simply unplug the wires from one plug and use them on the other.

I was thinking to go to the wreckers this weekend as they have a fairmont in their with the wires i need. What i was thinking of doing is cutting the plug out of that car, removing the pins and plug them in my car. Then all i have to do is solder the data wire together then run it to the cluster. As for the power i might cut the brown and red/blue wire from the plug above the demister, solder them to the other brown and red/blue wires, and should be it.
Does this make sense to anyone before i proceed with my idea to connect the Trip Computer? |

Mikew,
Click on this link and it will give you some pretty comprehensive information regarding the work you want to do to your car... Dont go cutting any wires dude as the least amount of wire connections you have to make the better it is. Go to this link... http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=32 |
