I have a Dynotec stage 2 Cam.
Cant really say what type of power improvement I got over the XR6 Cam, as the car has never been on the Dyno.... I guess even if the thing was put on the Dyno, it would still be difficult to tell..... Anyway here are the specs for it... Cam Type - Billet Supplier / Part Number - Dynotec PC3902 Valve Timing @ .050" Cam Lift Inlet Opens (BTDC) -16* Inlet Closed (ABDC) 32* Duration 196* Exhuast Opens (BBDC) 28* Exhuast Closes (ATDC) -18* Duration 190* SAE Valve Timing @ .006" Valve Lift Inlet Opens (BTDC) 8* Inlet Closed (ABDC) 62* Duration 250* Exhuast Opens (BBDC) 54* Exhuast Closes (ATDC) 12* Duration 246* Miscellaneous Specifications Inlet Cam Lift .265" Exhuast Cam Lift .253" Inlet Lobe Lift @ Top Dead Centre .016" Cost - Roughly $400 or $500...... (Memory is hazy as I fitted the cam back in 2002 or so)..... Having said all that, looking at prices from Wade for their cams, I dont think the Dynotec is as good in terms of bangs per buck.... Anyways, the information is here if anyone is at all interested ?!?!?!

Yeah, its nothing like the JMM DEV 4 or 5s in terms of idle.... Its about the same in comparison to the stock XR cam that I had, although it obtained a unique burble at idle when it was fitted. Power seems to kick in at 2200Rpm, and goes through to about 4500Rpm.. Anything above that and it seems like it runs out of breath... Im happy with it... It was an improvement over the stock XR cam that was in there before.... Though having said that, with the choices with the Wade/ITS/Alted gear now, I dont think the Dynotec is a good choice.

I know crow have a big name for camshafts.
We bought the largest crow hydrulic for a 4.1 crossflow for a engine a I built. It needed to be cleaned up on the casting as when rotate engine it would fowl(200 rods) not real big problem. The other issue was the machining on the radius of the cam bearing jornals, they where pretty rough like had been done with a a*** grinding stone on a hand held grinder while cam was rotated. Mind you it was pretty qik as could keep with my at time 351w td. Another bad cam was a Tigh cam a friend received, it was that bad I suggested my friend to send it back and get his money back. Should have taken photo's to prove. What has other people found with quality of their cams. Just a request for anyone who has just purchased a new cam could they post some up close photo's of the casting and machined surfaces as if they look pretty average they might be pretty average for performance improvement as well. By the way Tickford_6 good post and will be interresting on the feedback to find a good grind for my EF XR6. The hard part will be all the varibles in set ups to determin best cam for what type of useage and power ranges. Also if ecu, injector, intake, exhaust, ignition etc mods are needed. |
