Hey Guys, just purchased EFXR8 cluster for my EFGLI and was reading in the technical docs about the "eeprom". Have any of you swapped these over yourselves, if so is there anything I will need to watch out for or am i better to pay someone to do it? Have done other basic electronic work but don't wanna stuff this up.

Thanks

like the doco says - it is small and affected by too much heat. Got to a tv repair place or something similar and get them to do it. I went to Hills Telefix and cost me $10

Pay someone as its surface mount and if you sit the soldering iron there to long you will burn the board and other tracks.

Take it to some tv/vcr repair place and tell him what to do, about 15-50 to get swapped over.. cheaper/safer

Mate well woth doin what he said....its such a delicate component and without the cluster is useless so unless you wanna be up for buying yet another one get someone with the know how to do it for you.....wont take long and is far cheaper than a new cluster

I did mine myself (but then again I'm a skilled artisan with a soldering iron).
