Hi there

someone told me the other day that I can use my fuel gauge for the gas gauge

Is this possible?

And if so how is it done?

Your LPG installer should have been able to arrange for that (perhaps at a slight extra cost for the convertor module).

Perhaps the factory LPG gauge would offer a near factory type presentation.

i had straight gra in my old xd and it used the factory gauge i think any auto elec could do it for you in seconds i think you just put the wires from your fuel sender strait on to your gas send i think its that easy

If you are using a duel fuel set up you will need to fit a 5 pin changeover resistor type relay (narva part# 68044bl) dont use the diode type.

Its pretty easy to install, find the fuel sender wire(+) from the tank, EF one is yellow and green, not sure of other models. Cut this and connect tank side of wire to one of the "87" terminals on relay, preferably the "87a" pin. The other side of this wire (cluster side) goes on the # "30" terminal. The "85" terminal goes direct to earth. Connect the gas level wire to the remaining "87" terminal, and lucky last # "86" goes to the fuel selector swith/lead - on mine it is connected at the little black plastic box near converter (little green light comes on when running gas). This is how mine has been done and has been working fine since had the gas installed.

This does read both levels, just takes a couple of minutes to "settle" to the correct level when switched over. I have hidden all this behind drivers kick panel on my one as this is where most of the wires go through.

If it only on gas should just need to cut wire from petrol tank and join gas level wire straight to cluster wire without relay and other mods.

Have found I can still utilise all the trip computer info so upgraded from clock in mine. Actually seems to be fairly accurate reading both gas and petrol. All the terminal # are marked on the relay, shouldn't take that long to do.

Ok there are 3 wires - a red a black and a yellow/green

I have tried the yellow/green - no luck - guage didnt move

Im thinking the red and the black supply power to the fuel sender

As said not sure of other models. Check that Red is power wire with ignition and that the Black constant earth. If this is correct you may need to put in a 4 pin relay.

Red wire (if Positive) to "30" terminal
Black (If negative) to "85"
Cluster side of wire to "86"
Gas level wire to "87"

Check all the wires with test light, don't want to cut if not correct.
