Tinnitus is the ringing sound that keeps me awake sometimes at night correct? :P

Less loud music, more labor related.
Using compactors without hearing protection will do that to ya'

yeah the funny thing was the other day i was in teh city on bourke street and they had the jack hammer thing running off the bob cat thing. There was this guy about 25 or so and he was swinting his eyes looking at me having a sook that it was too loud. i walked past him and thought wtf...it not that loud just cause its echoing everywhere, or because its the instinct thing to do and have a sook at a jack hammer.

Tinnitus sounds like a telly. Turn your telly on and (if you have a newer tv) have the blue screen up and listen carefully, thats what it sound like. I have tinnitus and when in a quiet room it actually hurts not having any sound around. I have my stereo in my room on very quietly at night so i can get to sleep and just set the timer on it to go off in say, half an hour.

I have heard (no pun intended) there is a treatment for tinnitus and it involves different sound frequencies through headphones while you're asleep. May be good to look into if the condition is bad enough.

Called 'pink noise'

Something like 'white noise' which I'm sure most of you have heard of, but it's not a random as white noise.

I think Jaycar sell a kit along these lines.
